What is ASAP (Australian Street Aid Project)?
Australian Street Aid Project is a registered charity established in 2018, whose goal is to give motivated people the tools that they need to rebuild their lives and transition out of homelessness.
We are currently fundraising to open an Op-Shop with a Cafeteria in our home town of Mackay, Queensland. Within this establishment we will employ people who have been experiencing homelessness. Within this six month program, we will also provide them with accommodation (short term), support services and on-the-job training.
The aim of this intensive program is for each participant to graduate with regular employment and accommodation and a new outlook on life moving forward.
Along with this, we are passionate about caring for our friends on the streets and provide outreach services such as wound care, street kits, crisis/relief accommodation and meal services when possible.
What is our mission?
Our mission is simple: we want to tackle homelessness in Australia head on by providing people who are homeless with:
- Street kits and health/wound care
- The opportunity to exit the cycle of homelessness committment and dedication
- Connections to relevant and effective support services
